Reynosa, Tam.-

Reynosa, Tam.-
Even though there are already many contraceptive methods to prevent the spread of HIV-AIDS, during the first half of January the Outpatient Center for Prevention and Care in AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (CAPASITS) applied one hundred rapid tests, and three people in Reynosa tested positive for HIV-AIDS.
“We started with similar figures in the first half of the first month of each year”, said Juana Diaz Garcia, head of CAPASITS.
In 2020, a total of 152 confirmed cases and 42 deaths were recorded, in 2019, 135 patients and more than 50 deaths were detected.
“2020 ended with 1,050 patients receiving retro-vital treatments in the facilities of the Outpatient Center for Prevention and Care in AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections”, emphasized Diaz Garcia.
Miguel Angel Trejo Aguileta, treating physician at CAPASITS in Reynosa, mentioned that last year they concluded with the aforementioned statistics.
“Women continue to be infected with the HIV-AIDS virus, housewives and young people, who are infected because they do not have a regular partner or endless boyfriends when they have sex, they do not have preventive measures”.
To diagnose AIDS, the medical center applies 15 daily tests, where the first 15 days of January 2021, there were a balance of 3 positive results of the disease and in reproductive age: two women and one man.
