Reynosa, Tam.-

Obesity worsened with quarantine

Reynosa, Tam.-
Obesity, today, is one of the most serious health problems faced by companies. A person with obesity problems is slower in their tasks and gets sick more easily.
For this reason, the chiefs of staff, at the time of hiring, demand health certificates and always prefer healthy individuals.
The National Institute of Public Health (INSP), a decentralized body of the Federal Government, establishes that “overweight and obesity in Mexico are a growing problem, which is not stagnating, and is found in rich, poor, rural and urban areas of our country”.
The eating habits of the working population, and even among children and young people, tends to generate overweight problems.
The hypercaloric diet, with a high amount of salts, sugars, flour, and fats, consumed irregularly, is the main cause of this national epidemic.
The same institute points out that in recent years, the problem of overweight and obesity has increased by 10 percentage points in rural adolescent women, which means that almost 40 percent of rural women have these types of problems.
In the workplace, nutrition is a process that is not regulated.
Eventually, there is a program where a balanced diet is recommended, with the consumption of vegetables and white meat, but it does not significantly impact the mass of workers, so the problem has continued to become more acute.
With the current pandemic, by having the population in their homes to avoid the spread of Covid-19, the temptations to eat unhealthy food have worsened.
The “home office” has been the current line of thousands of people, who have to remain seated in front of a computer, to carry out their work.
For this reason, it is important to take care of the consumption of foods high in calories, which harm the health of the inhabitants, raising the levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, and glucose in the blood.
The decision is personal, the advice is to measure yourself at mealtime, to guard against excesses.(With information of Jesus Rivera)
